The Brass Lantern Inn is a historic, family-owned bed and breakfast located in Stowe, Vermont. Built around 1810, the inn features a brick farmhouse and timber-beamed carriage house set on an acre and a half with spectacular views of Mount Mansfield. We have 9 intimate, peaceful guest rooms named after the peaks of Vermont's Green Mountain Range. Each room is individually decorated with unique furnishings and wide plank floors, and features a private ensuite bathroom.

What amenities are included in guest rooms?

All rooms include robes, irons, hair dryers, water and glasses, and individually controlled heating and air conditioning. Most rooms also feature gas fireplaces or parlor stoves, smart TVs, coffee makers, jacuzzi tubs, and mini drink fridges. All rooms are non-smoking.

What is included in the room rate?

Room rates include a full three-course Vermont Fresh breakfast each morning, afternoon/evening snacks, access to all common areas including the outdoor hot tub with Mount Mansfield views, free WiFi (gigabit internet with mesh coverage), 24/7 coffee/tea/cocoa service, free parking, and access to our game room and other amenities.

Can more than two people stay in a room?

Yes, depending on the room's maximum occupancy. Additional guests beyond double occupancy are $25 per person per day (adults or children). Please check individual room descriptions for maximum capacity.

Do you have rooms with mountain views?

Yes! The Brass Lantern Inn is known for having some of the best mountain views in Stowe, with spectacular vistas of Mount Mansfield visible from many rooms and common areas including our porch, patio, and extensive lawn.

Breakfast and Dining

What does the breakfast include?

We serve a full three-course plated Vermont Fresh breakfast featuring local products. This includes fresh fruit, parfait, baked apple or other baked items, a full selection of juices, coffee and teas, followed by a main entrée that rotates daily and is prepared to order with awareness of dietary restrictions. We offer daily alternatives for you if the main entree is not to your fancy.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Absolutely! We are well-versed with dietary restrictions and preferences. Please inform us of any dietary needs when booking or before your arrival, and we will tailor breakfast and snacks accordingly.

Is alcohol available at the inn?

Yes! We offer beer, wine, cider, and ready-made canned spirit beverages available for purchase from 8 AM to 9 PM daily. Guests can enjoy drinks in our game room/tavern, on the hot tub deck, in their rooms, or in the lower yard. Guests must be 21 or older to consume alcohol. Outside alcohol is welcome in guest rooms, on the hot tub deck, and in the lower yard, but not in first-floor common areas, patio, or porch during serving hours.

Are evening snacks provided?

Yes, we provide complimentary afternoon/evening snacks daily as part of your stay.

Yes! We have a 4-person hot tub available year-round every day until 10 PM, located outdoors with views of Mount Mansfield and the star-filled sky.

What common areas and amenities are available?

We offer a cozy sitting area with fireplace, books and magazines; a game room/tavern with an Infinity Game Table and drink/snack service; a porch, patio, and extensive lawn with mountain views and fire pit; secure bike storage; and free parking. Coffee, tea, cocoa, water, and ice are available 24/7.

Is WiFi available?

Yes, we provide complimentary gigabit internet with mesh WiFi coverage throughout the property.

What activities are nearby?

Stowe offers year-round activities including hiking, biking, skiing and snowboarding at Stowe Mountain Resort, the Recreation Path and Quiet Path for walking and cycling, plus attractions like the Vermont Ski Museum, Stowe Theatre Guild, local breweries (including Idletyme Brewing), the Current contemporary art museum, and over 45 trails for all fitness levels. The inn provides easy access to all seasonal activities.

When is the best time to visit Stowe?

Stowe is a true four-season destination! While peak foliage (October) and skiing season (winter) are popular, locals especially love "stick season" (November-December), spring mud season (April-May), and summer (June-August). Each season offers unique experiences, and the inn is open year-round.

Policies and Logistics

What are your check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Check-out time is 10:30 AM. We generally cannot accommodate early check-in unless arranged in advance. If you plan to arrive after 8:00 PM, please call or email us in advance. Select Rewards members can request early or late check-in (half-hour, subject to availability).

What is your cancellation policy?

We offer two direct-booking rate options with different cancellation policies:

Rest Easy Rate (Flexible): One night plus tax charged at booking. For off-peak dates, cancel up to 72 hours before arrival for a refund of your deposit minus a 10% administrative fee. For peak season dates, cancel up to 14 days before arrival for a refund minus the 10% fee. Cancellations inside these windows are non-refundable.

Saver Rate (Value): 50% of stay charged at booking. Risk-free cancellation within 24 hours of booking. After 24 hours, deposits become non-refundable.

Peak seasons (with extended cancellation windows) include Fall Foliage (mid-September to mid-October), Holiday Season (weekend before Christmas through weekend after New Year's), and Presidents' Week.

Rebooking Credit Guarantee: If you cancel inside the non-refundable period and we successfully rebook your room for the same dates, we'll issue a future stay credit equal to the rebooked value, minus a 10% administrative fee. Credits are valid for 12 months and may be transferred once.

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. Late cancellations, no-shows, and early departures are charged for the full stay.

Is parking available and free?

Yes, we offer complimentary on-site parking for all guests.

What is the Stowe Community Tourism Support fee?

As a member of the Stowe Area Association, we collect a $3.50 plus tax per night fee that funds tourism initiatives including the Go Stowe Visitor Information Center, the GoStowe.com website, strategic marketing campaigns, and support for local events and small businesses. If you prefer not to contribute, simply ask and we will remove it from your bill.

Is the Brass Lantern Inn family-friendly?

Yes! We welcome couples and companions, solo travelers, and families with children over 8 years old. The inn provides a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere suitable for various types of guests.

Are pets allowed at the Brass Lantern Inn?

As of September 1, 2025, we are no longer accepting pets. If you are a regular guest with a pet, please contact us to see if we can accommodate you. The inn does have two resident dogs that guests may encounter during their stay, Butterscotch and Raven!
